We welcome you to Alborough Class. We aim to be the Awesome Alborough class and to show you how amazing we can be! On this page we will share with you our learning journey with photos and information as we have fun learning together.
We are a team of 4 members of staff – Mrs Ayers (teacher), Mrs Richardson (LSA) Mrs James (LSA) and Miss Sellen (LSA).
We are also lucky to be supported by outside agencies including speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and the educational psychology service.
Our class P.E days are Mondays and Fridays.
Your child may also join their mainstream class, with support, for P.E.
It helps if your child has a P.E. kit ready in a bag in class. This can be left in school and sent home for a wash at the end of each half term or if you prefer can be sent in at the beginning of every week.
Having the P.E. kit in a bag helps your child to look after his/her own possessions and gain independence.
For your child’s health and safety jewellery must not be worn in P.E. and if your child’s hair is shoulder-length or longer it needs to be tied up. Please can you make sure your child does not wear jewellery to school.
We Love Reading!
Your child's reading book and reading diary will need to brought into school every day. Your child has the chance to earn books to keep by reading at home five times a week for ten weeks.
Please remember to read at home each day and to record this in your child’s reading diary each time they read so they can see the progress they are making towards the target.
We also read / share a book with your child every day in school.
We aim to use our class outdoor area every day in our learning and during each week make use of our extensive school grounds in our learning quests.
Please can you help us by providing a full set of spare clothes, including wellies – it is a huge help to us if ALL clothing has your child’s name on it as we can return misplaced items to the correct child.
Please be mindful of the weather and ensure your child has suitable outdoor clothing e.g. coat / sunhat and sun protection on if needed.
Keeping in Touch
We are very aware that as many of the children have school transport we will not see you every day. However, we recognise the importance of keeping in touch and aim to keep you informed about your child’s time in school. This will be achieved through a range of communication avenues such as Tapestry for YR pupils; home school books where messages can be shared as often as needed; newsletters; Alborough class page on the school website; formal and informal invitations to school; text messages, telephone calls and of course you can come into school.
Very importantly if you have or think there is a problem please share this with us immediately – we do not want you to worry or for a problem to escalate.
Please be patient with us – we may not be able to speak to you immediately and it may take us a little time to find out the answer to your query – we do however promise that we will contact you as soon as we can – this may not be until after the school day has ended.
We look forward to building positive relationships with you and your child during your time with us at St Columba.
