Curriculum Intent:

At St Columba we aim for children to develop a passion for music, in which they learn to appreciate and develop a life-long love of music. St Columba use the Charanga Music scheme which covers the national curriculum that involves performance, composition and dimensions of music. The music curriculum develops the children’s skills, knowledge and understanding, to enable them to become confident performers, composers and listeners. The children are introduced to a variety of genres of music from around the world and across generations, beginning at Early Years to Upper Key Stage 2. The skills that the children are taught are transferrable and are key in their development as learners which have a wider application to their lives both inside and outside of school.
