Pupil Leadership

Pupil Leadership at St Columba

Pupil leadership is very important to us at St Columba C of E Primary School, as we want our children to be active participants in the running of our school. We also believe that leadership skills support children's educational development and prepares them well for life.

All of the roles below are designed to support our three core values of Love, Respect and Hope, which are woven into every aspect of our curriculum:

School Council

The School Council play a vital role in the life of our school.  Each class appoints up to two School Council Representatives.

School Council reps meet at least once per half term and discuss a range of matters relating to the life of school and the wider community.  They are the ‘pupils voice’ and can share concerns, questions, and thoughts from their class members.  They also play a key role in liaising with the Trust to ensure that the school is a positive place to be.  School Council Reps will engage with the wider community and understand the importance of a democratic society.  They also play a role in fund raising and supporting a range of charities.

Two members of the School Council will also be part of DCAT Voice. DCAT Voice brings together children from across each of the DCAT Schools. It is a platform to liaise with the Trust Senior Leadership Team on Trust Wide Enrichment events and to ensure that Children’s Wellbeing is at the heart of all the Trust does.
